Gone With The Wind Party

I'm joining Nikki over at The Scarlett Rose Garden for the Gone With The Wind party! Come on over to see who all is coming and what everybody is wearing!

I've been shopping for the occasion. First, a girl's gotta have the perfect under pinnings for that perfect dress.

What about this hat? A little bit too much? Yeah, I agree. :)

I bought these pantelettes, but I don't know..................Rhett says none of the women in Pari are wearing them anymore.............. :)

OK. I made my decision. It's this blue one. :)

Here's a little Scarlett that wants to come to the party, too.

These paper dolls are currently up for bid on Ebay. Looks like the whole gang is there....even the Tarleton twins. I just gotta have these!

I'm planning a trip to Atlanta next week, and I hope we get to eat at Aunt Pitty Pat's Porch.

While in Atlanta, I hope to visit the Gone With The Wind Museum in Marietta, GA. They have this ORIGINAL dress that Vivien Leigh wore in the movie. Only 7 original costumes have survived, and this is one of them.

Here are two more Gone With The Wind sites that I found interesting. There is a museum in Jefferson, TX and also a B&B. Here's the link http://www.scarlettohardy.com/
Also a great online site is http://www.scarlettonline.com/

Here's some pics of Vivien that I have rarely seen.

Why did they cut this scene from the movie I wonder. She looks so pretty in this dress.

I have always wanted some earrings like Scarlett's. She wore them several times in the movie.

Here they are again. She also wore them in the "Mill" scene, but I couldn't find a picture. :(

And another thing....................why in the world would she choose this

over this ?????????? Woo Hoooo! What a hunk! :) I have never understood that one. I was into my pillow all night trying to figure it out. :)

I've always thought they should have cast Errol Flynn as Ashley Wilkes. Then it might have been a hard decision for me.

Well I'm off to join the party. Thanks for coming by. I loved having you! :)

Great underpinnings my dear! That hat was humongous, lol!
You will SO love the gwtw museum. The dress is absolutely amazing, and so tiny. There were some other costumes there when I visited too.. such as Belle's hat. Will you be able to go to the other museums as well? I can't wait to hear what you think.

Those particular paper dolls are getting more and more rare. Snag them if you can!

Cute little Scarlett too!
Thanks so much for attending, it was fun!

Oh I agree about the Errol Flynn! Ashley never held any appeal for me either. I love the Blue Dress! That's the one I chose as well. Great minds think alike! How neat to be able to see the GWTW Museum. You'll have to post about it if they let you take pictures. Enjoy the rest of the ball!

Oh my goodness! I totally agree with you about the famous Mister Ashley Wilkes --- what a wimp, no backbone at all. I have wanted to say that for so long. Thank you for being my inspiration to let go of that baggage!!! Truly, I really got a big kick when I saw what you said about Ashley and Rhett!!! Gotta love those dark haired guys! This has been so much fun! Hope you will read my blog, if you already have I have just added some dolls all dressed up for the ball.

Those dresses are so darn big. I agree about the Errol Flynn, Ashley never held any appeal for me either. I would have chosen that blue dress as well. It is absolutely beautiful. Lovely time meeting you here at the ball. I must agree with you about Rhett and Ashley. Errol Flynn would have been eye candy for the part, but, I can't see Rhett picking him up to take him to the bed room in the scene where Ashley was shot. This was a great tribute!

Love your post ~ what a great tribute to GWTW! You are so lucky to get to visit some of the places that still have some of the great memorabilia from the film! And I SOOOO AGREE with you about Leslie Howard ~ no contest whatsoever between him and bad boy Clark Gable!

My mom would love this! She is such a big fan. She has the paper dolls, she bought them at the museum in Jonesboro. We've never been to the one in Marietta.

I had missed this. Great post! I'm not a GWTW collector, but I love hearing trivia about the film. Your comments about the men in Scarlett's life and your ideas about alternate casting of the Ashley character were fascinating.

Bye for now,
Bill

I loved this! I big Scarlett fan! Now you have a picture of her in the blue dress! I looked all over the internet for it for a long long long time. I saw it once in a shop, but it was framed a 16x20 I did not like the frame. I never found the print! I can't wait to meet you on September 25 for the luncheon. Are you bringing anyone with you?
