How cute!

Today is Monday, and I wanted to show what I found along, with others at Rhoda's Today's Thrifty Treasures at Southern Hospitality

I found these cute little pumpkin S&P shakers recently at TJ Maxx. Love the Maxx! They also had the creamer and sugar bowl, but I didn't get those.

Next is my OWL Fan! I just love this cute idea! And I needed a fan in my sun room. This handsome guy was a "not so thrifty" treasure, but I just had to have him. I paid $89 for him, but I looked them up on line and they were $80. Then add shipping, and I figured I'd come out about the same, and this way I didn't have to wait. :) They come in all different shapes. Here's a link http://www.oaktreeent.com/fans_figurine.htm

and finally............

Look what I found! I'm so excited! He was at an antique store, and he Was a thrifty find. Thanks for looking. I loved having you!

The Beginnings of Fall

It's Tablescape Thursday again over at Susan's, and today I've set a "beginnings of fall" table.

Originally, it was supposed to be a "bird themed" brown and white table, but Fall just kinda sneaked in there. hehehehe

My little bird is holding a special place for "You" :) (These were a wonderful find at my local flea market, and my inspiration for the bird theme.

Have a seat. I'm using my white Walmart plates with my "fancy" flatware. Leaf napkin rings and stemware are from Target. Flower arrangement, Hobby Lobby.

Aren't these little plates cute??? I found them at TJ Maxx.

Each plate has a different little bird.

See? This one is my favorite.

I had found this little bird dish?/feeder? at Big Lots in the clearance shelf.

And since it was a "bird" theme, Julia and Dudley had to participate.

These tiny little acorn S&P's were a gift from my best friend.

Since this is a "bird" themed/fall tablescape, I thought I'd give you a bird's eye view. hehehe

Well, it's getting dark. Time to light the candles.

And what are we having?

Salmon croquets, fried okra, mac and cheese and mexican cornbread.

And here's the family. They are just now getting used to "Mom's" bloggy thing. :)

"No! Don't eat yet! Just pick up your fork and pretend to be eating." hehehehe

Thanks for visiting me. I just loved having you!

My Love of Blue

It's Blue Monday over at Smiling Sally's. I am joining in the fun today. See other "blue" postings over there. :)

Blue has always been my favorite color. It's such a beautiful, soothing color. I love the sky when it is this color. I call it "moonlight blue"

When I was a kid, I loved to read Fairy Tales. The Blue Fairy Book was one of my favorites.

I always thought the Blue Fairy in "Pinocchio" was beautiful!

In the movie "Sleeping Beauty", two of the fairies fight over which color her dress should be: pink or blue. I always voted for the blue dress. :)

:)

I had a book about a wonderful fashion doll, and her "blue" riding habit was one of my favs.

When playing "Clue", Mrs. Peacock was always my second choice. (Next to Miss Scarlet, of course)

When I got married, I picked out blue every day plates.

"Sculptured" Grape by Poppy Trail.

I love blue rooms.

Here's my future "morning room" (Well, I can dream, can't I? heheheheh

I always loved blue eyes the best. And now that I'm a grandmother, I love them even more.

And even more, I love little, blue eyed girls sitting in pretty blue chairs. :)

Thanks for letting me share my blue stuff. I loved having you!

My Roosters

I'm joining in the Rooster Party over at Barb's at Bella Vista. Please go over there to see what all the "clucking's" about!

I love roosters, so I have several, especially in my kitchen Here are my rooster towels.

My rooster scrubby holder.

This is my vintage rooster planter. He is looking rather sad without his usual plant.

Some of you saw my Holt Howard Rooster egg cup in my last tablescape over at Susan's at Between Naps on the Porch.

And now, here's my latest addition to the rooster family. The big rooster is a cookie jar, and the little ones, S&P.

Unfortunately, I didn't like them as much as I thought I would so I had to send them back.
:(

Lastly, my favorites! I love to use them for fall decorating, as I will soon be doing.

Thanks for stopping by. I loved having you!

Thrifty Shoes

Today I'm joining the girls over at Rhoda's Southern Hospitality for Today's Thrifty Treasures.
This is my first time to participate.

I found these black pumps at a thrift shop called "Penny Pinchers", and I just love them.

They are by Steve Madden, and they were just $2.50. That's $1.25 cents a shoe! :)

I love them because they have an ankle strap and they make my long, narrow feet look shorter. :) And they are kinda "retro" looking to me.

My feet are doing the happy dance! :)

Wizard of Oz Party

Yippee!!! It's a Wizard of Oz Gala over at Twyla and Lindsey's! So follow the YELLOW BRICK ROAD over to Two Crazy Crafters and join in the fun!

I didn't really have anything thing to "show" for the Gala, so I decided I'd just "reflect" on the movie.

I first saw The Wizard of Oz at the theatre when I was about 7 years old. The thing I remember most is being terrified of the witch. Especially when they showed a close up of her in the round, gaze ball. I remember crying and asking Mom to take me home.

Can you imagine what she looked like to me..............up on that HUGE screen with that big, green face? I thought she was "going to get me" just like Dorothy. : O

I always wondered what those witch's guards were saying when they went in the gate? I thought they were saying "Oreo, re oh oh" (like the cookie :)

"No "hot?" ( sigh) "No "hot!" The tin man was always my favorite. Such a romantic. :)

My Favorite Line in the Movie:

Lion to the tin man: "How long do you stay fresh in that can?"

In my search for images, I found some funny ones. Like these look-a-likes.

hehehehehe

a little stretch on that one.

But I always thought the actor Glen Ford looked like the flying monkey. I always called him "monkey face" because of that? Do you agree?

This one made me laugh.

Thanks for letting me "reflect" on one of the greatest movies of all time. I loved having you!
and thanks, Twyla and Lindsey for such a fun time!

psssssssssssssst............the next pic has nothing to do with "Oz", but it was so funny to me that I wanted to share it.

LOL!
