The Pathway
Hello, Bloggy friends. Please come with me for a short stroll down the pathway.........
Just across the busy roadway, hidden from all passersby,
There is a long forgotten pathway,
but you can find it if you try.
Deep it winds into the wild wood, away from noise and dust and grime,
As you a walk along the pathway, you can join in nature's rhyme.
Here the fragrant, yellow jasmines grow away in wild profusion
and the wily crow, the sentinel, caws and caws at your intrusion.
The jasmine has a fragrant odor, and sometimes on a humid day;
when the winds blow soft...........and slow.............and easy,
you can smell them a mile away.
It winds by a lazy meadow with an azure sky above.
Here live birds of all description........
Larks,
Sparrow
and dove.
Now you cross a lazy streamlet on its way to find the sea,
'long a path of least resistance, that's a pleasant way to be.
On down past the glen and valley where the moss and wild fern grow,
by the pathway stands a beech tree, 'twas a seed not long ago.
On its bark an ancient carving of a heart with names entwined. Placed there by two youthful sweethearts as they left the world behind.
As you observe the ancient carving, you wonder where the two might be.
Where e'er they are, they've both forgotten.........They forgot..............
.but not the tree.
Now we leave the beech behind, and further down the path we find
a shady glen where tall pines grow o'er a soft brown carpet down below.
Walk softly now, and listen closely. Hear the faint, faint tinkle of a bell.
It's 'round the neck of a farmer's milk cow as she grazes peacefully in the dell.
Pause here now, the path is ending, and as it was at its beginning,
just beyond is mass confusion. There you'll find no quite seclusion....
but only in The Pathway.
This was written by my dad many years ago, and it means so much to me. Thanks for going down "The Pathway" with me today.
I'll be joining Susan for "Outdoor Wednesday" .

What a lovely poem your dad wrote. Oh indeed, we need pathways like this in our world, to get away from all the crowds, and to truly listen to nature's song. Thank you for sharing this. I needed it today.
