What’s In A Name

                                                      
Hello, I wanted to clear something up here.

My name is Donna, but you see my "blog name" as D. Here's why.


When I was growing up, my nickname was "Big D", so when I first started chatting, that's what I used.


But many people wanted to know if the "D" stood for "Dallas", "Divorce" or even, was I heavy because of the "Big". So I just shortened it to "D". So you can call me "D" or "Donna". I usually sign as "D" cause it's easier to type. :)

Valentine Table A Little Late

Hi, I hope everybody is getting ready for Valentine's Day on Tuesday.


I set my Valentine's Table in the Sunroom (I'm a little late for the Party)



I used my metal birdcage as a centerpiece, and the white doves fit in perfectly.

These two lovebirds fit right in with Valentine's Day.

See the Valentine cookies up there in the plate?


This is what happened to them after I took the pictures. hehehehehehe! Valentines cookies don't last long with a granddaughter around.

Lovebirds Tablescape

Well, it's dark already. I'm running late in joining "Tablescape Thursday" at Susan's Between Naps on the Porch.

Here is my inspiration for this Valentine's Table. 

I love the blue birds.


I wanted to use blues and reds, so my vintage tablecloth seem to fit  right in.


I used a few blue touches. Love my blue teapot.

A few Valentine touches on the counter.

Rednesday

Don't you just love vintage valentines?  I just ordered this one from Ebay and

can't wait to get it. It's SOOOO Retro.

It's signed "Guess Who?"  I guess we will never know what nice husband

sent his wife such a sweet card.

Here's another adorable valentine. I wish I had that teapot.


                           I just LOVE this one, too.

I Finally Won Something!!

Yes, I won this wonderful (very handy) book about organizing. I haven't read it
yet, but it's about not only decluttering your house, but also bad things we hold
on to like regrets.

WHEW!!

WHEW!!! I tried to change my template, and had my blog all messed up. Hope it's fixed now. SCARY!


I was a busy bee yesterday. First my closet went from this......

Much better. Now I can find my tennis shoes. :)


I experimented with cleaning my kitchen grout. Can you tell where I scrubbed, and can see the difference?  I've got to tackle, that job today.


I cleaned top of my microwave. Goodbye sticky grease film.



Next will be the top of the fridge. Yeah, you know how that gets! Right? :)


Finally, while cleaning out my closet, I found some drawings my oldest son had made while in school
This one made me LAUGH.  Ok! I admit, I WAS terrible at picking out "cool" clothes. hehehehehehe

Red and Yellow Apples

 Today, I've set my little table in the kitchen, and I'm joining "Tablescape Thursday" at Susan's.

 My sister gave me this cute, vintage pitcher and glasses set for Christmas, so naturally...........

 I had to do a tablescape with them.  I pulled out all my yellow and red (lucky for me, it had RED apples :)

My yellow napkin holder and s&p's fit right in.




I think it turned out right cute. Thanks for joining me today. It's cloudy and cold here in the South.

Happy Day After Christmas!

Looks like Mrs. Claus is glad to have Santa safely home once  again from his busiest day of the year.

Vintage Christmas Carol Book

 As a kid, I always remembered this beautiful picture of kids around a Christmas tree.  I couldn't remember the source, but I started looking on Ebay and was amazed when I actually found it.

 It's from this Christmas Carols book published by Whitman probably in the l950's. I LOVE Whitman art!

 As a kid, I remember trying to decide which little girl was the prettiest....The blonde or

 the brunette.  :)  Actually they are ALL adorable.
