My Blue Guest Room

Hello, Bloggy friends. Today I'm showing my before and after of my blue guest bedroom. I'm joining Susan at BNOP and Sally over at Smiling Sally for Metamorphosis Monday and Blue Monday. Zip on other there for more great pics!

Sorry for the grainy MLS picture. This is the before room. It was painted an "electric" blue color and had white, painted squares on the wall. Ugh!

I painted the room a light blue color, and it brighten it up so much.

I added "Sophia" blue and white drapes to the window, and added shears.

I added blue accessories, and a white bed spread. I love blue and white together.

I also got a matching rug also from Laura Ashley.

And since it's, Blue Monday, I'm show the "blue" lady that hangs on one of the walls. She came from an antique store. I think she's so pretty.

Thanks for joining me today. I love having you!

My Little Christmas Angel

Today, I'm joining Joan over at Anything Goes Here for Vintage Christmas Monday.

Here's my little Christmas Birthday angel. She was given to me by my Daddy many years ago. She is old, and she has a broken wing. Dollar wise, she's probably not worth much, but she's very precious to me. Here's why...............................

Having a birthday two days after Christmas has always been hard, but it was doubly hard for me because Daddy was always drinking on my birthday. He didn't drink all the time, just when he had time off from work, and he always had time off for Christmas.

One year, a few days before my birthday, Daddy asked me what I wanted, and I told him, "Daddy, you are always drunk on my birthday. I just want a "normal" birthday this year.
That's what I want more than anything."

This little angel is what Daddy picked out for me that year. When I opened it, I remember Mom saying, "Your dad picked that out. I told him you probably wouldn't want it."
But Mom was wrong. I loved it. I loved it because of what it meant. Daddy wasn't drunk that birthday, and he was never drunk again on any of my birthdays after that.

He is gone now, but every time I look at my angel or wind her up to let her play "Happy Birthday", I think of him and the wonderful gift he gave me that birthday.

Thanks for letting me share this story with you. This is very personal to me, and I'm not good with words, but I did want to share it with all of you.

Before and After Hall Bath

This is the way my hall bath looked when I moved in my house. (Excuse the grainy MLS pic) The walls were a dark purply color, old linoleum floor, skinny white cabinets and the shower had old, cracked white tile.

While tearing out the old white cabinets, we found mold and mildew and lots of water damage. We stripped the bathroom down to the studs, and basically started from scratch.

Here's the bath today. Quite an improvement. While I was freaked out about the mildew and mold, it was really a blessing in disguise, because now I have a fresh, new bathroom. :)

I added new faucets and a new vanity with granite tops. These came from Lowe's. New light fixtures, too. Mirror is from Wal Mart.

I just installed this much needed vanity cabinet over the commode.

Here's the tile in the shower. Much improved from the cracked, old stuff.

Time to add a few accessories. A corner shelf.............

Some pictures and flowers, and voila....................................

New Hall Bath. :)

Please be sure to join others for Met Monday hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.

Thanks for stopping by!

My Thanksgiving Table

I'm joining the fun over at Susan's BNOP for some fun tablescaping. Visit her for more great tablescapes.
This is my Thanksgiving table. I'm not quite ready for Christmas yet. It's still time for Pilgrims and counting blessings at my house. :)

Here's my centerpiece. The flowers are from Michaels, which I have decided I like much better than Hobby Lobby. They were on sale. :)

Of course, I had to add Pilgrims to the mix. I found these at Big Lots and thought they matched my color scheme really well.

Placemats were a "steal" at J C Penney's. The are reversable, too.

I'm using the glasses I found at Dollar Tree several weeks back. I thought they would be appropriate for Thanksgiving since they say "Friends" and "Family".

I'm trying a close up like some of you do. I'm using my black metal chargers I found at an antique store.

The napkin under the fork is paper from Wal Mart (I think)

I decided to make a runner out of them since the tablecloth was so plain.

Twilight Time.

Turkey's Eye View :)
Thanks for visiting me today. I love company!

Pretty Tree and Bathtub Full of Geraniums

I'm joining in the fun for Outdoor Wednesday today. In the South, our leaves always turn late in the season. Some years, they are prettier than others. This is a tree across the street from my house that I wanted to share with you. Isn't it pretty?

I thought this was so cute, I just had to take a picture of it. This bathtub full of geraniums was outside a wholesale store. Have you ever seen so many in one place? Pretty!

Be sure to go to Susan's at Southern Daydreamer for more fabulous Outdoor Wednesday shots!
Thanks for visiting me today, I loved having you!

New Front Door and Entry

Today I'm hooking up over at Susan's BNOP. Head on over there to see all the other great Mets for this Met Monday.

This is how my entry way looked when I moved in my house. The former owner had two solid, double doors, which I didn't like; plus it didn't let in any light. Notice the ugly dark, brown linoleum on the floor and the mauve colored walls.
Here's my new door, which lets in lots of light, especially with the side lights. I love my new door. Also I painted the walls a muted yellow (Indian Gold) and put in new hardwood floors over much of the house.

I love the hardwood floors. They are so easy to keep clean, too.

Here is the door from the outside. I painted it a color called "Dragon's Breath" recommended by the interior decorator. I think it goes good with the brick. She did a good job picking it out. Notice how the side lights are painted the white trim color here. We debated, and everybody thought it would look better all the same color.

So here it is painted. I can't decide which I like the best. I also painted the shutters and the garage door this color, which I think pulls the house together. I'll post these pics later.
Thanks for looking, I loved having you visit me!!

Halloween 2009

We had such a fun Halloween last night. Here's my house decorated for the occasion. See the ghosts in the window? Wasn't it nice to have a full moon, too?

Here's a little Trick-or-Treater enjoying some of her Halloween booty.

And here's Peyton in her outfit. She's 6 now, and this year, she wanted to be "scary"

Here's she is enjoying some of my bones and eyeballs from my tablescape. hehehehehe

Go here to see it.

This is me and my best friend, Gloria. We've been friends forever.

This is the tree we were standing under. It's across the street from me, and the colors are so pretty.

and, finally, I saw this in a mag, and wanted to share it with you:

FOR REASONS TO LOVE HALLOWEEN

1. Raiding--uh, inspecting your kids' candy.

2. Cobwebs are considered decorations. (Love that one :)

3. Three words: chocolate, chocolate, chocolate

4. Finally, a no-cook holiday. (AMEN to that one!!!!)

I hope you all had a great, safe one. Thanks for stopping by. I loved having you!!
